Reflecting on a successful start to 2019 for MFS

As the dust settles on an eventful first quarter of 2019, MFS is celebrating its most successful ever start to a year – and that’s saying something, given we’ve been at the forefront of the UK bridging sector for more than a decade now.

While Brexit deadlock has gripped Westminster and murmurings of uncertainty have continued across most financial markets, MFS has pressed ahead and enjoyed many notable successes over the past four months. Reflecting on this positive period, here are the five developments our team are most proud of from 2019 so far:

  1. New funding line. At the start of 2019 MFS secured a new funding line – with a global investment bank, no less. This was an important step for the business; it means we have multiple funding lines and, as a result, we have capital ready to be deployed in the form of fast, flexible bridging loans.
  1. Standout cases. The strength of our funding lines, coupled with the experience and knowledge of MFS’ underwriters, enables us to deliver bespoke loans in even the most complicated of circumstances. And we have some standout cases that we’re particularly pleased with already this year: most significantly, last month we issued a £4.5 million bridging loan to a client within just four days of receiving their enquiry.

Updated bridging loan criteria. Having been founded back in 2006, we understand we must constantly evolve to keep pace with changing market demands. Earlier this year we demonstrated our willingness to do so: we lowered our minimum loan amount from £200,000 to £100,000, while still providing loans of up to £10 million. We also strengthened our presence in the Midlands, to complement our services across London and the South East. The changes were made amid mounting demand for our services, and they have fuelled further growth for the business.

Growing the team. As demand for our services have grown month-on-month, MFS has also been eagerly expanding its team of bridging experts. Over the past six months we have hired four new business development managers, with two – Saira Tagger and Samantha Graydon – coming on board since February 2019. The new additions underline our commitment to providing an exceptional quality of service for all clients and brokers, which remains MFS’ key objective.

Recognition from press and industry. And finally, amongst all of these successes, it has been great to receive recognition from both the media and industry voices. In fact, MFS has featured in the press no fewer than 59 times so far in 2019 (who’s counting?), including articles in The Times, Yahoo Finance and Daily Mirror, along with dozens of pieces in leading trade titles (some of which are referenced above). At the same time, we are in the running for ‘Bridging Lender of the Year’ at the B&C Awards 2019 and we also won the Best Modular Stand award at this year’s Property Investor Show, which took place last weekend.

Despite our successes over the opening quarter of the year, we’re never ones to rest on our laurels. We are constantly striving to improve and we’re also constantly looking for new clients and brokers to work with.
