I joined Market Financial Solutions as an Office Junior in the PA team in 2018 and have grown alongside the company. Since moving to the marketing team in 2019, I now focus on elevating our event capabilities. As Senior Events Marketing Manager, I ensure we have a standout presence at the sector’s leading events, and that we provide in-person solutions for visiting brokers and borrowers.

I work with the wider marketing team from conception to delivery on everything event-related: shaping campaigns, building stands, arranging everything required for the BDMs and underwriters, and ensuring any connections we generate go through our CRM system swiftly.

I take pride in finding new, innovative ways to add a twist on the events we attend and produce, and looking for fresh ways to build a shared, interactive experience for attendees.

My Areas & Expertise

I drive and oversee all of Market Financial Solutions’ events. This includes external events our teams attend and sponsor, internally produced events, and managing our company’s presence at major industry gatherings. Specifically, my remit covers:

Design and deliver all presentations for meetings and events
Run all internal events
Event strategy and logistics
Manage campaigns designed for specific events
Oversee the onboarding of event-generated leads and partnerships

Alex could manage the logistics of the World Economic Forum, Glastonbury, and New York Fashion week within a single weekend. Being responsible for the ever-increasing number of events we produce and attend, Alex is an expert at spinning multiple plates, while making it look easy.

Market Financial Solutions’ presence at the industry’s key events and conferences is spearheaded by Alex. She makes sure everything arrives on time, the right people are where they need to be, and our teams stay front of mind for brokers and borrowers.

Interview with Alexandra Hewett, Senior Events Marketing Manager

Joining Market Financial Solutions straight out of university, Alex quite literally embodies our company’s ethos, and commitment to hard work.

“I started out as the office junior in 2018, working for the Executive Assistant at the time,” she said.

“I moved into the marketing department where I’ve played a major role in ensuring Market Financial Solutions has a clear presence across the industry, and that our output helps property investors with their challenges.”

That’s no exaggeration. Alex built her experience by working on content writing, digital analysis, mailers, design graphics, and countless other areas. But as the team grew, she naturally drifted toward event planning, something her background in theatre and production helped with enormously.

What do you think is shaping the specialist finance market, and what could drive it over the months and years to come?

Just as is the case with every investment market or asset, the property world is having to reckon with a tricky economic and political backdrop. A fact Alex is well attuned to.

“I know many property investors are fearful of how the Autumn Budget and Renters’ Rights Act will affect them in 2026 and beyond. Many are planning to sell up but this creates opportunities for investors who are willing to expand.”

As we’ve seen, many landlords have sold up in the face of rising costs and economic uncertainties. This has pushed prices downwards in many key localised markets however, and Alex has a few that continuously catch her eye.

“Every sector has its pros and cons of course, and the success of an investment depends on the underlying circumstances,” she prefaced.

“But, London’s prime market is offering so much potential at the moment. Discounts are available at rates not seen for years, and this extends to the South East commuter belts.

“Also, if its yields landlords are after, they could look up North. Prices are comparatively low, but plenty of people are moving to the North for the lower costs, and lifestyle options. There is plenty of opportunity for those who want to see their money go further.”

Thankfully, we’re primed to help with property investments across the map.

“Working so closely with our team of BDMs allows me to see just how we go above and beyond across England and Wales. We’re not just focused on the South East bubble, and given that we can provide funding in mere days, we’re able to help investors jump on opportunities quickly.”

What do you enjoy about specialist lending and your role within the marketing team?

“This industry is always evolving, meaning I am never bored. I have to adapt to the market’s shifts, and in-person events is the perfect vehicle for demonstrating how specialist lending is primed to keep up with the wider industry.”

Indeed, the events we attend allow us reach new brokers and borrowers, and get to grips with what’s really important to borrowers. They force Alex to keep on her toes, and make sure she advocates on behalf of Market Financial Solutions.

“Collaboration for events is always key. It’s why in the lead up to an event, I will get as many perspectives as possible from our teams.,” she said.

“I always keep up to speed on the latest developments so I can understand what our attendees are going through. I want to know how the latest base rate vote has affected their plans, whether they’re rethinking their portfolios in the face of looming legislation, or if they want to invest in a brand-new market.

“By hashing out the details, I can point them in the right direction. That’s what our industry events are all about after all – finding solutions to problems.”

Where do you think there could be opportunity for property investors in the current market?

Alex finds this a difficult question to answer, considering there are always opportunities across the UK for the right borrower. But there is one major shift that seems to be dominant.

“Property investors are seeking creative ways to shift from the residential market to the commercial scene,” Alex said, definitively.

“There is a lot of demand out there for conversion finance, and property investors are utilising unique ownership structures to move into the commercial market.

“Which is great, because Market Financial Solutions can help with limited companies, share purchase agreements, OpCo/PropCos and so much more.

What would say to encourage people to attend industry events? What benefits could they get out of them?

As busy as we get with everyone who visits us at all the industry events we attend, we always want to meet more! It’s for their own benefit as much as it is ours.

“Going to events is great fun, but make sure you know what you aim to get out of an event before you attend.

“Whether it’s getting some education on a new topic; making new contacts; meeting someone you’ve been emailing face-to-face for the first time – once you have this sorted, you’ll then be surprised at the additional benefits you’ll get from attending industry events.

“If you’re new to an industry, an expo is a great way to see so many people come together in one place. If you’re unsure of where to start, try local businesses to see if they have anything about where they will be that year but honestly, Eventbrite has so many events listed that you’ll find something that will work to your goals.”
